STAFF
At Ferndale Foods we take the safety of our staff to be of paramount
importance. We have a clearly defined health and safety policy that all the
staff are made aware of on their induction to the workplace, and have periodic
refresher courses.
We employ a full time RoSPA trained health and safety officer who holds regular
meetings with the workplace representatives where any safety issues can be
solved quickly and efficiently.
We are a multicultural employer and therefore actively strive to meet the
challenges this brings. We work with the communities to ensure any language
barriers are dealt with to prevent any health and safety issues.
We have an in-house medical facility and nurse available for our employees to
air any concerns they may have with personal health, or health in the work
place. We have recently completed the build of a new bright and open working
environment to make for a better working day.
Two way communications between all departments are actively promoted,
making for an informed and responsive workforce.
We strongly believe in training and eduction for all our employees and where
possible new career positions and job promotions are filled by developing
our existing workface.
SUPPLIERS
Without our extensive list of raw material suppliers Ferndale Foods would not be
able to supply a consistent quality and quantity of products to our customers.
We pride ourselves on having a good working relationships with all our suppliers
who are willing to “ pull out all the stops” when needs must.
All our materials have achievable specifications that have been agreed with the
supplier to ensure fit for purpose ingredients.
Contracts are established so both parties are aware of their commitments, in
both terms of volume and finance.
All the above points are also true with our service suppliers who without we
could not operate our plant. Yearly contracts are tendered and quoted for
supplies of gas and electricity. Water consumption and waste are closely
monitored to ensure we meet the requirements of the local authorities.
CONSUMERS
Here at Ferndale Foods we strive to put the needs of the consumer first, healthy
living and reduced salt are at the forefront of our development. Ferndale sources
the finest ingredients and employs technological advances turning natural
components into exclusive nutritionally balanced meals. With an eye on the
current consumer trends Ferndale anticipates market developments, and
provides niche products to satisfy the consumers’ demand for high
quality meals. Key to this is the ability to take the classic ‘home-style’ cooking
techniques, such as the searing of meats & the gentle cooking of fish to offer
consumers a clear point of difference in their dining experience. This combined
with the convenience range means Ferndale Foods’ offering to its valued
consumers is one of diverse culinary expertise.
THE ENVIRONMENT
As a major food supplier Ferndale fully appreciates its responsibility to the
environment and is continually monitoring efficiences with a drive to minimise
its impact on the environment. With the importance of environmental
sustainability being paramount, Ferndale is concentrating on the core areas of:
Packaging from sustainable/renewable resources.
Efficient use of energy.
Optimisation of on-site water treatment
A concerted drive in making significant reductions in the following areas is also underway:
